The TalkChief app for Pipedrive logs every TalkChief phone call in your Pipedrive company account without anyone typing it in. You connect once with your Pipedrive login, with no API tokens to copy, and from then on each finished call appears as a call log on the matching Pipedrive person, with its outcome, talk time, the agent who handled it and a link to the recording.

What the app does

  • Logs every external call: inbound and outbound calls are logged as Pipedrive call logs. Calls between two TalkChief extensions are not logged.
  • Finds the right person: TalkChief looks up the caller’s number (or the number you dialed) in the phone numbers of your Pipedrive persons. A call on a person who belongs to an organization is linked to that organization too.
  • Creates persons for new numbers: when no person has the number, TalkChief creates one with the number and the caller ID name. You can turn this off.
  • Assigns the call to the agent: the call log belongs to the Pipedrive user whose email matches the TalkChief agent’s email.
  • Links the recording: when the call was recorded, the call log’s note links to the recording so you can play it from Pipedrive.
Each logged call shows: Calls usually appear in Pipedrive within a few minutes of hanging up.

Before you start

  • You are a company admin in TalkChief.
  • You are an admin in the Pipedrive company account you want to connect. Pipedrive lets only admins log calls for other users, so TalkChief uses the admin’s connection to log each call under the right agent.
  • One Pipedrive company account can be connected to one TalkChief company.

Connect Pipedrive

1

Open Integrations in TalkChief

In the TalkChief web app, select Integrations under Configuration in the sidebar. The page opens on the CRM tab.
2

Start the connection

On the Pipedrive card, select Connect. TalkChief sends you to Pipedrive.
3

Sign in to Pipedrive and choose the company

Sign in with your Pipedrive login. If you belong to more than one Pipedrive company, choose the one to connect.
4

Approve access

Pipedrive shows the access TalkChief asks for (see Data TalkChief uses in Pipedrive). Approve it to install the app.
5

Confirm in TalkChief

Pipedrive sends you back to Integrations in TalkChief. A message confirms that Pipedrive is connected, and the Pipedrive card moves to your connected integrations with a Connected label.
6

Test with a real call

Make or receive a call with TalkChief. A few minutes after you hang up, open the person in Pipedrive and check that the call is on their history.
If you start the installation from Pipedrive instead, Pipedrive sends you to Integrations in TalkChief, where you select Connect on the Pipedrive card.

Choose what gets logged

On the connected Pipedrive card in Integrations, select the settings (gear) icon. The Pipedrive settings window shows the connected Pipedrive company and three switches you can change at any time. Each change applies to calls that end afterwards.

Data TalkChief uses in Pipedrive

When you connect, you allow TalkChief to: TalkChief writes call logs and new persons to Pipedrive. It does not read or change your deals, leads, activities, emails or other records, and it does not copy your Pipedrive contacts into TalkChief.

Disconnect Pipedrive

To stop logging calls and remove TalkChief’s access, open Integrations in TalkChief and select the trash icon on the Pipedrive card (or Disconnect in the Pipedrive settings window), then confirm with Yes, disconnect. When you disconnect:
  • Calls are no longer logged in Pipedrive. Calls that were waiting to be logged are dropped.
  • TalkChief removes its access to your Pipedrive company, which also uninstalls the app for the admin who connected it.
  • Call logs and persons already in Pipedrive stay there. Nothing is deleted from Pipedrive.
You can connect again at any time: the Pipedrive card returns to Discover more integrations, where you select Connect.

Uninstall the app from Pipedrive

You can also remove TalkChief from your installed apps inside Pipedrive. When the admin who connected TalkChief uninstalls it, TalkChief disconnects automatically: calls stop being logged and the Pipedrive card returns to Discover more integrations. If another Pipedrive user of your company uninstalls the app, calls keep being logged. Call logs and persons already in Pipedrive stay there.

Troubleshooting

The card shows Reconnect needed when TalkChief lost access to Pipedrive, for example because the access was revoked. Select Reconnect and approve access again. Calls that ended in the meantime are logged once you reconnect, as long as you reconnect within 7 days.
A Pipedrive company account can be connected to only one TalkChief company, so that each company’s calls stay in its own CRM. Disconnect it from the other TalkChief company first, or connect a different Pipedrive company.
Pipedrive lets only users with account settings access log calls for other users. If the person who connected TalkChief is not a Pipedrive admin, every call is logged under them. Disconnect, then connect again as a Pipedrive admin.
The call’s user is set only when the agent’s TalkChief email matches a Pipedrive user’s email. Use the same email in both, or add the agent as a user in Pipedrive.
TalkChief matches the person by their phone numbers. Check that the person has the caller’s number, preferably with its country code. If Create contacts for new numbers is off, calls from numbers Pipedrive doesn’t have are logged without a person.
Pipedrive gives each company a daily allowance of API requests, shared by every app the company uses. When it runs out, TalkChief keeps the calls and logs them after Pipedrive resets the allowance.
