The TalkChief Microsoft Teams integration brings your full business phone system into the Teams environment your people already use every day. Rather than switching between a separate softphone or browser tab and your collaboration tools, your team can place and receive TalkChief calls, check voicemail, and manage their presence — all from inside the Microsoft Teams interface. This keeps communication in one place and reduces the friction of juggling multiple applications during a busy workday.

What the Integration Does

When TalkChief is embedded in Microsoft Teams, your team gains access to TalkChief’s full business calling capabilities without leaving the Teams workspace. Specifically, the integration lets you:
  • Make outbound calls through TalkChief directly from the Teams app, using your TalkChief business number as the caller ID.
  • Receive inbound calls inside Teams, with TalkChief handling routing, queues, and IVR in exactly the same way as on any other TalkChief-connected device.
  • Access your contact center — queues, ring groups, and call handling rules all apply as configured in your TalkChief account.
  • Use your business phone for professional calling without needing a separate desk phone or softphone application.
Your TalkChief configuration — numbers, routing rules, user settings, and call recordings — remains managed in TalkChief. Teams is the surface through which your agents interact with it.

Prerequisites

Before setting up the integration, confirm the following:
  • An active TalkChief account. Contact your TalkChief administrator or TalkChief support to confirm the Microsoft Teams integration is available on your plan.
  • A Microsoft Teams account with sufficient admin permissions to install apps from the Teams app store on behalf of your organisation, or per-user installation rights if your organisation allows it.
  • The TalkChief Microsoft Teams integration enabled on your TalkChief account. Contact your TalkChief administrator or TalkChief support if you are unsure whether this is enabled for your plan.

Setting Up the Integration

1

Open Microsoft Teams settings in TalkChief

Log in to your TalkChief account and navigate to Settings > Integrations > Microsoft Teams.
2

Connect to Teams

Click Connect to Teams. You will be redirected to Microsoft’s authorisation screen. Sign in with the Microsoft account that has admin or installation permissions for your Teams organisation and approve the requested permissions.
3

Install the TalkChief app in Microsoft Teams

Open Microsoft Teams and go to the Apps section (found in the left-hand sidebar). Search for TalkChief in the Teams app store and click Add to install it. Depending on your organisation’s Teams admin settings, you may need IT or a Teams administrator to approve the installation.
4

Sign in to TalkChief inside Teams

Once the TalkChief app is installed, open it from the Teams sidebar. Sign in using your TalkChief credentials (the same username and password you use at app.talkchief.io).
5

Test your setup

Place a test call from within the TalkChief app in Teams. Confirm the call connects correctly and that inbound calls ring through to Teams as expected before rolling the integration out to other team members.

What You Can Do in Teams

Once the integration is set up, the following TalkChief capabilities are available directly inside Microsoft Teams:
  • Place calls to any number using your TalkChief business line, including contacts saved in TalkChief.
  • Receive calls routed through TalkChief’s IVR, queues, and ring groups — all ring through the Teams app.
  • View call history to see a log of recent inbound and outbound calls handled through TalkChief.
  • Access voicemail left for your TalkChief extension or number, including playback and message management.
  • Manage your presence to indicate availability and affect how TalkChief routes calls to you.

Technical Setup

For organisations that need API-level control — for example, to automate call actions, build custom bots in Teams, or integrate TalkChief calling into other Microsoft 365 services — the TalkChief REST API provides the programmatic interface to do so. Additional technical guidance on the Microsoft Teams integration, including webhook configuration and advanced setup options, is available in the TalkChief developer documentation.
The features available to you inside Microsoft Teams depend on both your TalkChief plan and your Microsoft Teams licence. Some capabilities — such as contact center queue access or call recording — require specific TalkChief plan tiers. If a feature is not visible in the Teams app, check your TalkChief plan or speak to your administrator.
